What is a sad reality that's never really discussed?

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine. If you truly believe that marriage is stupid, I urge you to simply look at societal results of your worldview. Nobody gets married. Everyone just has sex with whoever they want, and doesn't commit in the event of children. This leads to a lot of single parents. This leads to children growing up wondering why their father didn't care about them. Ask pretty much anyone who grew up in a broken or incomplete home, and they'll tell you of the pain they went through. Marriage's only benefit is higher tax return? Please. Marriage has so much more. Marriage at its core is about serving another person for the rest of your life. Now I know that sitting at your computer at home, that may not sound like the best thing ever, but it really is an amazing thing. As humans, we like to be payed attention to, to be loved, to be cared for. When two human beings make vows to do just that, it creates a union that can only grow (That is, if the two actually marry to serve one another. A marriage built on selfish intentions will surely flounder).

Now, a family is even more beneficial. The relationship a child has between a mother and father who care not only about each other, but the well being of the child is even more beneficial. There are unique qualities of the relationship both between the child and the mother and the child and the father that strengthen the child.

I have learned life lessons and behaviors from both of my parents, and the thing is that I know there are some that I wouldn't have learned with only one parent.

So far we have a few more benefits than 1.

  1. Higher tax return
  2. Serving relationship between two people.
  3. Increased benefits for children's future

If you really think marriage is stupid, that is of course your right to think that. I'm sure as a result of that view you won't get married. But understand that marriage isn't just an old tradition that needs to die. It is an integral part of society that has helped society advance for over 7000 years. It's not the wooden floor board of society that needs to be replaced with tile, it is the foundation. And it is with the cracking of that foundation that we see society begin to crack as well.
