What screams "I'm terrible with money"?

Was gonna say the same thing. Happened to my father. Well drugs, and a secret family. Found out when my phone service got cut off. I had been giving him my cut of the bill on the family plan, and he refused to give me the info to pay the debt online while I was at work. We had suspected something was up with him for a couple of months and it was very suspicious that he would rather me go to his house so he could pay it with my card info. We share the same name and I knew a lot of things they ask to verify access to account information. So I just convinced an employee of the service provider to give me access, and saw two phones that didn’t belong to anyone else in our family. I was able to find out the areas those numbers frequented and they were in the next state over about 45 minutes from are area. Turned out it was another woman with a kid and his second phone. For the past couple of years he had been supporting them and their drug habits. He had a prestigious job at a university and a lot of my friends knew him from school. Luckily the drugs and the secret family had already ripped our family apart and nearly destroyed my jobless mother. So when he was arrested for drugs and word got out around town I was numb to it. It’s really embarrassing because I know a lot of people where I live and a lot of people know him because of his position at the university. I have never really spoken about it to any of my friends. The ones who have brought it up have been very sensitive about it and I just say, I dunno. I haven’t talked to him 2 years. I helped my mother get a lawyer and half of his retirement so she could live the rest of her days comfortably. This is the most ive talked on the subject. I just prefer to keep it to myself, but of all the comments in this thread that one stuck out and I wanted to share my story, so maybe someone doesn’t have to go through what My family and I have had to. It all started with a surgery and pain killers. It can happen to anyone. I had a good father and never wanted for anything, but that man is dead. That part of his mind is just gone. He’s a shell of his former self, and a ghost that haunts our family as long as his body remains. If you suspect something act as quickly as possible to get them help.
