What should I buy Thursday (Oct 20 2016) - Your weekly device inquiry thread!

I've had a 6P, Note 7 (pretty much like an S7E), HTC 10, and will be getting a Pixel tomorrow.

Between the S7E and HTC10, I'd call the HTC10 a better/faster software experience. Apparently HTC did some work lowering touch latency, so the thing just feels really fast to use. Google says they are doing the same with the Pixel, so I'm very hopeful for it.

The S7E's camera is a better experience over the HTC10. HTC10 is extremely capable of taking great shots, but it's not as fast as the S7E, which will seriously impress you. Pixel is said to also be a very quick shooter, and possible captures even better images, but we'll have to see what people say once we get our hands on it.

HTC10 wins in the audio department. If you use headphones a lot, you'll appreciate the DAC, and it will also beat out the other two with its external speakers, but IMO, the external speakers are nothing to write home about. Sure, they're better than most, but they won't beat anything with dual front-facing speakers.

As far as updates go, you just won't beat Pixel. HTC10 is close to stock and 7.0 is supposed to be coming soon, so I'd put it second, with the S7E as third.

Then there's hardware features, where S7E is unmatched. It offers wireless charging, IP68 waterproofing rating, and expandable storage. HTC10 has expandable storage. Pixel has none of the above.

Overall, I'd go for the Pixel (obviously, because I actually am), unless one of those other things is a killer feature for you.
