What should I do when college/university has killed my passion for learning?

So, I’m in the exact same situation right now.

Entered college with one career path in mind, only to find out that it wasn’t for me very early on. My professor has completely killed my passion for the field. My major is small, and my professor is the only one that teaches it at my college. I can’t switch or drop the class without completely changing my major. Unfortunately I have no other interests or skills.

I’d suggest meeting with an academic advisor. Think of any classes you may have taken that you enjoyed and maybe consider majoring in that. I know you can take some personality type tests to determine what career works best for you given the skills you have. Sometimes you may have a skill without realizing it. There are things I never would’ve thought I’d excel in, but I did once I was given the opportunity.

I understand. Having shitty professors really takes a toll on your confidence. My professor is extremely unhelpful and almost defensive when I ask for help. It really sucks. Hopefully things look up for you soon.
