What simple living means to me

We have nice family heirloom jewelry in my family and have always been taught that you wear the heck out of it. If it gets lost, damaged, broken beyond repair that’s better than it just sitting in a safe space for eternity never being touched. For me the simplicity lays in the fact that I’m not scared to wear it. I used to laugh watching my mom vacuum with some of the nicer pieces on because that’s what her mom did.

I am not an jewelry person and don’t own any outside of my engagement ring and heirlooms (including my wedding band) but I wear the heck out of what I have out of appreciation for them and the women of my past. I love looking at my rings and knowing one is from my husband, my band is my grandparents and on my other hand I wear a ring that was my other grandparents. There is a lot of love there. Some day my engagement ring and all the heirlooms will pass down again and I hope someone down the line wears the heck out of them too and if they get lost/broken I’ll just be happy they where loved rather than stored.
