What is the single biggest continuity mistake across Star Trek? And what’s your explanation for it?

You're not far off. I'm a humanist and have dedicated my life to public service and rational analysis because of Star Trek's influence on me as a child and the thought processes it set in motion. I could even argue that coming from a dysfunctional family, I may have also grown to be a dysfunctional person and continued to pass that on to my children except for using Spock as a kind of example for how I could practice reason and self discipline to improve my life skills. In turn, I can look back at some of the works I've done in my life and know that I've had an impact that improved society and set an example for others to do the same. I'm just one person, but I can see the profound ripple effect of Star Trek and I know that we live in a better society because of it.
