What is something that makes you automatically respect someone?

Same, I'm this muscle bound Dave Grohl looking guy. At first things are fine, people there think I'm getting something for my kid (it's sort of weird because I'm only thirty, and even more so the years before that) And when I say I'm at a LGS because I'm into one game or another their whole attitude changes.

I mean it's not everyone who's like that, the people working at these places are typically pretty chill. It just can get annoying to get treated like I'm not really into something because I'm not some nerdy stereotype. At times it seems like you need a sperate set of social skills to do well in those sort of communities.

Like I have been trying to get into Magic The Gathering, and there's a lot of old school neckbeards in that community, along with some PC thugs and that isn't fun. While most of the neckbeards are mostly harmless, people carrying a banner and just going on a crusade to advocate for something isn't easy to deal with.
