What is something small you did in the past, that in retrospect, you are really glad you did?

Allegedly doing steroids.

In the military and had low test (as a 22 year old male) doctors didn't give a shit about me, aka standard operating procedures for military docs.

I learn the ins and outs of how getting mail overseas works (I know it's randomly checked but wanted to learn the % chance to determine risk of ordering overseas drugs, talk to a friend doing postal and she tells me it's somewhere around 10% but people are often lazy and rules get bent).

Next I find "reputable places" online to order these drugs. I order them, figure out dosing I need, learn how to safely do intramuscular injections, and control all "potential" (I didn't have any) side effects with other medications.

First off, I finally wake up not feeling like complete trash and stop seriously considering killing myself.

Second off, I start making really good gains in the gym (I had been an active gym goer for years but the level of effort and dedication I showed did not reflect my results, despite a very disciplined diet).

Eventually, I got caught by postal, which the information was then forwarded to the militaries version of the FBI. Long story short I knew this day was coming as I ran the numbers and probability before starting.

I get interrogated, they accuse me of selling the drugs (I would buy huge shipments because less packages = less chance of getting caught)

I literally tell them the full on truth, starting from the beginning. I consent to house search, piss test, car search, the works. I document my full dosing protocol, injections dates, where I learned what. Showed them the website I used, the email I used to order from, and all of the past purchase receipts.

This shit goes straight to my commander, and this was a pretty big deal because I was a Staff Sergeant and should know better than to "mess around with drugs." Fortunately my boss, a Master Sergeant, had an outstanding reputation with our commander, and he would always stick up for his troops.

Long story short the commander tells me he has no choice but to give me an Article 15 (unless I want a court martial and 10+ years in jail since I would most definitely lose). However I get a consolation prize, he let me choose if I wanted to stay in and lose rank or "get kicked out".

Staying in meant no more medication that I need, so I chose the door. He literally thanked me for my 7 years of service and kicked my ass out with a "under honorable conditions" discharge and the name of a retired military lawyer who worked for the VA semi near where I was headed. I contacted him and 2 years later I have an honorable discharge.

I also got 40% disability rating for injuries sustained while serving, which is giving me a monthly check and paying for my Pharmacy school.

TLDR: did illegal drugs and now get free school to be a licensed Pharmacist.
