What song brings tears to your eyes when you hear it?

You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins

I was just after finishing my final year of university. That year my grandfather had died. I was so close to him, as my grandparents cared for me every day after school while my parents were at work. I hadn't seen him much after I moved away for university, and he died suddenly. I became depressed after he passed, missed a lot of lectures, and started having panic attacks when faced with assignments and exams. To top it off my boyfriend of 4 years left me a month before finals as I wasn't "fun" anymore. I moved home once finals were over, convinced I'd failed everything, deep in depression, to face the beginning of the recession (2008) and no jobs to be found. All my friends had moved on from my home town and I was alone.

I sat in my childhood bedroom, isolated, for nearly 6 months. One night I was very upset and crying on my bed. My music was playing on shuffle on my iPod. I looked at my grandfather's photo, and asked him to help me. That's when this song came on.

Come stop your crying It will be alright Just take my hand Hold it tight

I will protect you From all around you I will be here Don't you cry

For one so small, You seem so strong My arms will hold you Keep you safe and warm This bond between us Can't be broken I will be here Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my heart Yes, you'll be in my heart From this day on Now and forever more You'll be in my heart No matter what they say You'll be here In my heart Always ... When destiny calls you, you must be strong  I may not be with you  But you got to hold on  They'll see in time, I know  We'll show them together

'Cause you'll be in my heart  Believe me, you'll be in my heart  I'll be there from this day on  Now and forever more

You'll be in my heart  You'll be here in my heart No matter what they say

I'll be with you You'll be in my heart  I'll be there Always... Always...

I'll be with you I'll be there for you always Always and always

I'm a scientist, so I don't believe in paranormal things. But that song could not have come on at a better moment. It gave me incredible comfort. I went on to get a job, passed my exams and got a good honours degree. Met the love of my life and got married. Now I'm pursuing a PhD and my old boss from an internship has created a paid position for me as she was so impressed by my work. I still suffer from depression, but things get better.
