What steps did the Soviet Union take to contain ethnic Russian nationalism? Were ethno-supremacist currents prohibited among politicians and everyday people?

I dont know of any exact steps they took to contain Russian nationalism, however I would think that the nationalism was mainly in the aristocracy and its supporters. Which with the Aristocracy overthrown and it's supporters defeated in a civil war and most like labeled criminals and traitors, there would be more support in the socialistic policies. There's also the fact the all Socialist parties combined held an about 80% of of the seats in the 1917 election so it cant really be said that nationalism was all that popular. And you can even see it in most of the soviet leadership a large portion of them were Jewish Lenin, Kalinin, Trotsky etc. Even the most iconic leader of the USSR, Stalin was georgian. There was also in the 1936 constitution every republic was guaranteed the right to secede from the Union.
