I am aware that being black in America sadly comes with more risks and can understand why you may feel you need to take more steps to protect yourself and your family.

I understand some women are assaulted by strangers (and the risk may be greater for black women.) Pepper spray is not a bad idea

The women in your family sound like they have done some really cool things and sound like amazing women

I guess it’s to have conservative values as you as you allow your daughter to have different values if she wishes. I just personally have seen a lot of harm come to women in the name of these values, but everyone’s experience will be different
