Ugh. I guess I'll be the asshole-ette..... Natives. Backstory. I am a white female ginger in Canada. I am tired of the 'White privilege" stigma. It is SO far off. I was in an abusive situation and kicked out when I was 17 by my family. I was living on the street and eating out of the dumps behind bakeries and fast food places. I was also working full time nights at Mcdonalds. Sleep outside during the day, work at night. Desperately trying to save up for a place to get back on my feet. I did for awhile, but failed because of my alcohol problem. I called a detox, went into treatment and was there for a few months. I failed...tried again. This went on for a couple years until I finally was able to stay sober. I went back to high school during rehab and graduated via correspondents . I worked so hard and paid for it myself by selling paintings since I love to paint, as well as some temp work (landscaping etc). I am currently 29 and a graphic designer. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have been ganged up by natives when I was on the street because 'I am white, I must have money'. I am a very small girl who has been robbed and beaten years ago because of this assumption. I worked so damn hard to get out of that situation. Later on, I decided I wanted to help others too, so I worked for a homeless shelter for 3 years. About half were native. You would not believe the death threats and abuse I was given just for being white, I stayed calm and understanding, but it did make me angry to some degree. I just wanted to help people and feed them, no matter the race. But most of what I got was "How does it feel to know you raped and murdered our ancestors, you owe use everything, etc" Dude...I had nothing to do with that. Natives in my area get more money and grants and payouts than any other race I can think of, yet they still complain and blame the white man for shoving alcohol down their throats and ruining them. Natives are the most entitled people I have ever met. They demand money, drink it all away, and blame everyone but themselves. They act like they are the only people who deserve handouts. Did they not here about blacks? or the jews? It makes me SO angry! The natives in my area are so corrupt, and self entitled, and greedy!! I had a native room mate at one point. She had about four kids and no job. She got her house paid for and a free education because of her status. This was 7 years ago. She isn't even working now, and hasn't for about 5 years. I have never been able to get help for school or anything because of my ethnicity. Anyway...that is my stereotypical belief. That alot (not all ) Natives, are self entitled, lazy, blaming, wastes of resources. Let the down votes fall upon me. P.S I am in Alberta.
