Vernon drags Dudley and Harry to play cricket, and Harry's natural ability to pick out the ball gives him a batting advantage. Vernon, like a good social climber, encourages him so that he can make contacts with all the rich kids. Harry ends up getting a scholarship to a private boarding school that lets him board for the full terms, gives him a decent education, and turns him into a great cricketer. He turns down Hogwarts, and spends his winters playing foreign tours in South Africa and Australia. Dumbledore responds by claiming Harry died of complications following the AK, but that making Neville the boy-who-lived with all the major plot points covered by him.

It is the winter of 1996. Dean Thomas is on the run, and decides hiding at a local private boarding school is a good cover. While there, he recognises the scar.

Long story short, Dean ends up teaching Harry about magic, Harry teaches Dean about cricket. They go on tours to Australia, India, South Africa and the Carribean doing both, preparing for a day when Voldemort comes for them.
