What story of you and your SO will make me feel incredibly lonely?

I had previously got out of an abusive relationship before I met him. I was a mess in every sense of the word. He was a regular at the store I managed, and was an acquaintance of my coworker. He'd occasionally sit and chat with me on slow days, which I thought was kind of him. I thought nothing of it.

One day, said coworker said he knows someone who has feelings for me, and reveals it's the regular. Honestly I was afraid I'd ruin him; I was bitter, empty, didn't take care of myself as I should anymore. I voiced my concerns, but coworker took that as a 'no, I don't feel the same way' and proceeded to try and set him up with his girlfriend's best friend immediately after. Turns out he didn't like her, and told my coworker "I can't. I don't like her dude, I like [BOWL_OF_OATMEAL_AMA]."

A couple weeks after texting back and forth and seeing each other at my work and hanging out casually, we were at out usual cafe spot where my coworkers and our mutual friends all hang out after work, and things felt different seeing him that time. There was a nervous tension, but also childlike giddiness. After a couple hours and the cafe closed, everyone started leaving and it was just us two and a stranger strumming on his guitar across the patio. We scooted close together, and I laid my head on his shoulder, followed by him wrapping his arm around me. We ended up getting serenaded by guitar guy, a song of his own, an improv ditty wishing us a good night before he made his way out.

We stood in the parking lot by my car, not wanting the night to end. I ended up slipping out an "I love you" after he made me laugh, and I backpedaled hard. Saying things like "I mean 'i love you' as in 'ha ha, you're so funny, i love that'" because I was afraid I'd just scared him off. But he hugged me and said "It's okay, I love you too."

The relationship progressed scary fast, but it seemed to work out because here we are, over 2 years later and happier than ever.
