Alright Redditors, help me figure out what the hell I saw six years ago!
Friday April 2, 2010 3:30 AM (I know, it was in that 3:00 AM window of weird things happening, but whatever).
I am driving two friends from where we lived (Beverly, MA) to catch the first flight out of Logan for the Easter holiday. The quickest route for us from downtown Beverly to the highway (128) was to go the "back way" through Ryal Side (throwing this in for reference).
As we headed away from the center of town we crossed a small bridge on Bridge Street (very original), and it was here that I saw what I saw. Three women marching along the side of the bridge in the night like they were on a mission. This wouldn't be odd at all, except for one the area where we were is a bit of a walk away from all the bars, etc. They were walking towards town, having come from a residential area (from a house, woods, dropped from Kathy Griffin's spaceship, yada yada), which is kind of a weird thing. Why do that? Anyway, the kicker to all of this is what they were wearing. The three women walked in sort of a v formation. The woman out front (I'm assuming it was a woman), honestly, looked like Rosie O'Donald in some sort of Friar Tuck meets Mother Superior garb. Butch, large gut protruding, black frock, white rope belt, and a some sort of black head covering. The absolutely weirdest part this person was the large white sword (looking as though it was made of wood) tied to the hip, and that gut-out-on-a-mission march. The two women flanking wore something that looked similar to Miss Clavel, but as best I remember, in white. Everyone's costume was a little more medieval. These two walked as though they were the obvious betas (hands folded, stepping lighter, behind).
If it wasn't for the fact that I was so awake and focused on driving I would have thought I was still half asleep. Thinking the couple in the back had fallen asleep and I was really losing my mind I almost whispered "see that?" as we drove past. Hearing my two friends whisper simple yesses back is something I won't soon forget.
OK REDDIT, apologies for my awful storytelling (and any spelling/grammatical errors), but can someone throw some light on what I saw? Please ask questions if more/better elaboration is needed. Thanks!
