When I was around 12 years old, I was home alone for the day (home sick) and I was in our guest room in the basement with our dog. I heard something upstairs, and eventually got that sick feeling in my stomach and went on high alert, started listening real hard for movement, and I heard what I could only think were footsteps. At this point my dog is also freaking out, either because she heard what was going on upstairs or because I was acting really weird. I called the police and hid in the bedroom. The police went around our house and found every door locked with no signs of forced entry, told me to come upstairs, and I let them in. To this day it's the most scared I've ever been for my life. Everyone told me "it was probably the wind" or some other weird explanation but I am not 100% convinced.
