What is the Sub Reading This Week? April 11th - 17th

The Unwelcome Guests of House Fildette (original title: the Count's Intruder/The Count's Uninvited Guests)

Official description:

Hayden Grummond Fildette, the only son of Count and Countess Fildette, was the perfect heir and lovable anchor who kept his family together. But the peaceful days come to an end when an unwelcome guest from his father’s past surfaces, threatening Hayden’s position with a possible half-brother and tipping over his parents’ precarious relationship. Will he and his family be able to withstand the storm of uncomfortable truths and misunderstandings, or sink in the raging conflicts?

Personal comments:

Note: I am not sure about how spoilerish my comment is. It is more or less a general genre direction especially for those who are worried, but to be safe I put a spoiler tag.

Finally, the official translation of this manhwa is released (Tapas)!! I have been waiting for a long time since I read it early this year.

It is a story about a count family who tries to keep their family together. The father and the mother have problems, mainly miscommunication and ego that led to misunderstandings, but they genuinely love their children very much. As mentioned in the description, rumors and unwelcome 'guests' come to tear and destroy the family. We see how they try to work, fight, and clean their name, while also growing to become a better family.

The early episodes are very angsty because we see the situation from the son's point of view; it actually hit me hard because of how related it is to the reality I know. But after about 9-10 episodes, it becomes less angsty as we see more backgrounds and the father and mother's perspectives.. Then as we understand the situation more, it introduces the possibility of some schemes behind the 'guests' and the events that happened around them and hence mystery tag.

Some warning, the characters here are flawed and humane characters, so if you are looking for badass characters or even romance, I won't recommend it. But if you are looking for flawed characters who develop over the story in about realistic ways, with some mystery, then I would recommend it to you.

My personal rank, it is my 2nd favorite OI or OI-adjacent manhwa in terms of characterization after "What It Means to be You". The Count's Intruder is a different genre, but I like seeing their relationship and their effort to solve their problems. I am rooting for them. And it might be controversial (I stan for Winter lol), but the father here, Benedict, is another character I really love.
