What terrible gifts did you get this year? What are you going to do with your non-returnable, unwanted presents?

Gifts from the in-laws are always an assortment of random. We are simple people and give nice, easy requests when asked. Food, books, socks, pjs or brands/specific items of smelly stuff (my OH uses Nivea shave stuff so nice and easy to find).

This year I got:

  • a huge jewellery box. I have perhaps 10 items of jewellery, all sentimental pieces, and I don’t wear any on a normal day. This box is huge. No idea what I’ll do with it!

  • Mint flavoured smelly set when I’m allergic to mint (been mentioned many times!). At least that’s easy to re-gift

  • A tea set with Earl Grey tea bags. I don’t drink tea and my OH hates anything other than standard tea.

  • A massive crystal candle holder that is all spiky and extremely fragile. We have a 1 year old!

Also they bought four extremely noisy toys for the kid. None of them have an on/off button and one takes up the entire lounge floor! We asked for either a coat, books, welly boots or wooden blocks when they kept pressing for suggestions. Why bother asking?!
