What the Tesla Model 3 actually looks like in public.

No, seriously, I don't care. I'm not going to buy one, but I'd like to see meaningful progress towards reducing emissions. If it comes from Tesla, wonderful.

I think the front end is really pretty terrible. I get it: no air intake, no grill. But why would you make it look like there's just a grill missing on the front rather than doing something completely different? I'm not really wild about the trunk, either. Looks a little demented.

I think the S is a very handsome car. I just don't feel that way about the 3. Sorry if that offends you.

Clearly most people don't agree with that assessment (or maybe I hit a nerve, considering the downvotes.)

Clearly most people don't agree with that assessment (or maybe I hit a nerve, considering the downvotes.) It's not like it's an Aztek, but it's definitely not the prettiest car around, either, and you would think 200K pre-orders in a day would be conditional on excellence.

And on that topic - I have seen immense pre-order shitshows before. Not that will necessarily happen to Tesla, but I have some legit skepticisms.

And of course I'm not considering it as a serious investment - although I think fair value is starting to catch up with the price, after the preorder news - because there is still a major disconnect between potential value and actual value. Tesla needs to actually start making cars in volume. This is a very capital-intensive industry and they are on a serious timeline. Hype does cut two ways: when you've already gotten everyone excited, 19 months of dead air can sink you, especially if the competition makes decent products that don't need to be preordered. So Musk has got to walk that tightrope.

If you bought TSLA within the last couple months, congrats, you did real well. If it was before that, jury is still out. From my perspective this is the wrong time to buy (and perhaps the time to sell), since it's a total hype/news driven stock, and they've just fired their wad. Could be several more months before more real news, which will likely mean a buying opportunity.

I have to observe that both you and TRA seem more interested in being right / intellectual superiority than making money. TRA also follows a kind of ideology of contratianism, it seems, so he's gotta be both right and contrarian, which I imagine must be difficult. It appears you're less, uh... ideological.

That isn't at all why I do this. I couldn't give less of a shit if I'm right as long as I don't blow my shot at early retirement.mense pre-order shitshows before. Not that will necessarily happen to Tesla, but I have some legit skepticisms.
