A couple points along these lines:

Virtually any 'punishment' from parents is strictly illegal. Children have careers and records they strive to build, and any unlawful disruption to those qualifies as a crime.

The end of life care helps illuminate your immediate family, while often horrible, especially if you do not create houndaries with money, etc. from them (virtually anyone would steal your money if you do not maintain private, secure bank accounts. People lose their minds and all sense of relationships when more than a few hundred dollars ends up on the line.) are truly the only people you will ever have genuinely partial to you.

It is extremwly difficult to make it in most contexts in the world without someone on your side in such a way.
