what do u think about matt walsh's documentery "what is a woman"?

Personally? I thought it sucked

I was already aware of Matt and already developed a pretty intense dislike of him not just because I fundamentally disagree with him on everything but because he’s just an ass. He sees a person he disagrees and he sends his fans to harass them, then calls them cowards when they private their accounts just so they don’t deal with the constant harassment. He makes fun of people in a tasteless way, he’s one of the stupid “LGBT = groomers” people, and he’s an idiot who thinks that his documentary is the greatest thing to ever exist and believes people are ignoring it because they’re scared. Yeah… no. Speaking of…

He makes this giant documentary claiming to “topple gender ideology” but throughout the documentary it just… doesn’t? I support trans people, but I went in with a clear enough head, open to anything that may challenge my worldview and… nothing. He interviewed some professors (one of which he clearly edited to make the guy seem dumb and it didn’t work lmao), a few people who were clearly not prepared at all for a “debate” (I’ll get to that), and people he clearly prepared beforehand.

I completely sympathize with what happened to Scott Newgent and I fully acknowledge that for some, transitioning doesn’t work (even though it seems to be a net positive for the majority of people). But man, Scott just… lied. They always discuss surgery risks, it’s against protocol if they didn’t and there’s a lot of paperwork that goes into sex-reassignment so you can’t just avoid that. No substantial amount of youth studies supporting transition have been retracted, there are studies on long-term hormone therapy, there’s no source on how much trans people are “worth” and the fact about Lupron being fined for overprescription applies to every drug on the market.

Matt recites debunked claims, interviewed an abusive father, and used outdated facts and statistics. He refuses to accept that the definition of “woman” is extremely complicated and latches on to a basic three-word definition that excludes many women even biologically. Every single expert, every single person qualified for this is telling him the facts but he ignores it based on “because I know” which is the Dunning-Krueger effect if I’ve ever seen it.

Not to mention, he wasn’t even entirely honest when gathering people. If you couldn’t tell throughout, many people in it clearly had no idea what they were in for. That’s because they were invited under false pretenses without any mention of Walsh. The invitations did not mention the true purpose of the documentary, using ambiguous wording so it isn’t a direct lie and making it seem pro-trans. Also, basically all of the photos of people were taken from social media, without permission, violating copyright laws. And finally, here’s a dilemma to ponder about. Matt includes photos of transgender, underage males post-top surgery. It’s okay, obviously, because they’re male. But from the perspective of Walsh’s beliefs, those are girls. So did Matt take images from social media thinking they were underage, topless girls?
