What is up with the police handling of the Uvalde elementary school shooting?

Reform the system from the ground up.

  1. No more union.
  2. To replace the union functions, police become strictly full federal employees. Albeit with a "specialty" in their home state.
More on the "full federal employees" bit later.
  3. Police officers are a specific tier of police that can hold weaponry.
The base requirement to be a full police officer is an accredited 4 year degree.
  4. They are to be on a 6 month recertification by an independent third party for weapons handling and psychiatric evaluations.
  5. Without the 4 year degree, you cannot be a police officer. As such you cannot carry weapons without direct command situations.
This tier is a "peace officer". They address random bullshit such as minor violations. The day to day shit. Peace officers are still full federal employees. They receive the same 6 month weapons training and psychiatric evaluations.
  6. Full body cams. Any tampering or "lost footage" or any other games are treated as a felony and investigated and prosecuted as such.
  7. Investigations handled by military court.

And for the "full federal employee" thing? Government-backed pension, healthcare, education credits for family, pay, all sorts of fun shit. Including the peace officers. I always believe in a carrot and stick process. The stick being the points 1-7 above where the idea of a "cop" is redefined as someone that is trying to mitigate disputes and keep the peace. Versus the stormtrooper shit we've got going now, with them being corrupt, incompetent, and unpredictable. So we offer the carrot. Incentivize people to do the right thing and discourage doing the wrong thing. It's not complicated.

But this is of course a fantasy. Too many conservative fuckknobs fellating the police. Had the riots that were instigated in MN strictly because of the unchecked bullshit the police get away with and every fuckknob conservative in my workplace was regurgitating the Fox News bullshit they heard. So of course they were mocking the calls for reform.
