We have an entire generation of PC gamers that don't seem to understand what a Steam monopoly took from them.
Steam was the worst possible DRM solution there was. That is one of the reasons it was widely hated back in the day.
-Always online connection required. Even for single player games. [fuck off with the Steam limited offline connectivity]
-You can not let your friends borrow your games
-You can not sell your game after you are done with it
Publishers never thought that consumers would accept such draconian DRM. Baby Steam went all out with free games & looney sales to get people to come on board the Steam train
I'm old enough to remember school clubs were everyone would pitch in some money to buy PC games & they all took turns playing them. Like building a library of PC Games for your crew.
