What Vegans Eat

Not trying to rip on veganism here but some of the most unhealthy out of shape people I know are vegan but that's just because the food they eat is just really unhealthy filler food and stuff that is super high in fat. That being said I know alot of very healthy, fit vegans as well. It's just strange to me you would do the whole vegan thing and still find a way to eat like crap

Setting the obvious generalizations aside, the hilarious thing about the countless comments like this is that non-vegans believe that deciding to end unnecessary animal suffering by becoming a vegan means that we need to turn ourselves into triathletes. We are no different from anyone else, except that we have decided that "taste" and "convenience" are not enough reason to torture and murder innocent animals. Diet it is a personal choice, as is veganism, but the two are not necessarily linked.

This is because veganism is not a diet, it is a philosophy. Personally, I became a vegan two years ago at 51, and I've lost nearly 50 lbs, and been able to go off my meds for hypertension and cholesterol. Those are great side effects of my choice to reduce animal suffering, but they are not the reason I became a vegan. I am surrounded by obese diseased middle-aged men and women who will spend their later years fully integrated in the "health care" industry's revolving door. I am here to tell you that that will not be me, and it is because I became a vegan.
