What to Watch: Jeff Sessions’s Confirmation Hearing

Q - Why did you vote against expanding protections for LGBTQ students, immigrants...

A - I did indeed support the bill in 2000....(cut off)

Q - I AM TALKING ABOUT THE BILL THAT IS LAW TODAY

A - Mr. Chairman, a number of people oppose some provisions in the bill. One of the more concerning provisions gave tribal courts jurisdictions on people who weren't tribal members. So I voted with the chairman and the legislation he had that did the job but at the same time didn't have things attached that were concerning.

Q - On the Tribal court, those who have been prosecuted have been prosecuted very fairly. None of the non indian that have been prosecuted have appealed to federal court. Do you believe that this has been handled fair?

A - I will do my duty to -----(missed it, sorry...maybe "see how I will handle that?)

Q - Do you believe it has been handled correctly.

A - I have no understanding of that. In meeting in senators prior to this hearing I have learned a lot about this..in that non indians that have gone on to tribal lands and committed crimes have not been prosecuted sufficiantly. I do think that the FBI, need to do a better job.

Q - Will you be able to defend this in court?

A - I will do my best to defend the statute

(omg please correct me where I missed things lol).
