What was the weirdest coincidence you've experienced?

My great grandmother was blind, and lived in a nursing home most of her adult life. When I was a little kid my parents would bring me to see her, and she used to scare the shit out of me. She'd have to touch your face "to see how big you got," she had foggy, glassed over eyes from glaucoma. I hated going to see her to be totally honest.

But also because her roommate freaked me out. She never said anything except for moaning, rambling, or, much to my delight, my fucking name. She'd try to reach for me and shit.

My folks never really spoke to her other than "hi how are you," I assumed because they were just being nice, and she was a bedridden old lady.

20 years later I am talking to my dad about my great-grandma, and I was like "what was the deal with that other lady?"

"Oh her? Yeah that was your other great grandmother."

He said it like it was no big deal.

Apparently my grandmother, my dad's mom, was estranged from her family and so my dad never had contact with any of them after his youth. Grandma's mom went senile and was sent to the nursing home. Where she was roommates with...my mom's grandmother. She would say my name because I look just like my dad (and share his name), and he was a kid the last time she saw him, so she just thought I WAS him, because dementia.

It was a pretty large city, so the chances had to be astronomical for the two matriarchs of my family to be old and senile in the same goddamn room at the same time. My dad only ever shrugged it off, like he didn't care at all. He thought it was funny how fucking mind blown I was by this.

Small world, I guess. It was weird.
