What was the weirdest dream you've ever had?

The most terrifying and interesting dream I've ever had was when I was tapering off prescription benzodiazapenes that I had been taking for around 6 months for anxiety, and involved a false awakening, sleep paralysis, and something that I don't think I'll ever be able to explain. I am literally getting chills just thinking about it. This dream is 100% the truth, no word of a lie, despite it sounding like a stupid horror story that belongs in "nosleep."

It started as one of those dreams where you wake up thinking you've woken up. I started my daily routine, had a shower, went and got breakfast, and while I was in the kitchen I realised I was in fact still asleep and dreaming. So I woke up and, realising it was still the middle of the night, decided to get up and go to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

While walking to the kitchen, I felt a very sinister presence, as though someone was watching me from all directions. I'm getting the shivers right now from typing this. I figured I was just still half asleep, got to the kitchen, and poured a glass of water at the sink. The kitchen in our flat is one of those kitchen/living area type things in one, with the TV and couch on the other side of the same room as the kitchen, right next to the window. I went over to the window next to the couch and looked out at the sky. It was still the dead of night and the stars were out. I sat down on the couch for a few seconds, but then realised that if I got comfortable I'd probably fall asleep again, so got up to go back to my room.

So I got up, and went back to the sink to refill the glass of water. All of a sudden, I heard my flatmate's voice from behind me. I turn around and saw her sitting right there on the couch.

"Were you there the whole time? When I was looking out the window?"

"Yeah. You sat right next to me, you dumb fuck. I was looking right at you. Are you fucking blind?"

"Why didn't you say anything?! The lights are off, and I didn't see you there. That's fucking creepy."

"Lol, you're just a dumb fuck, nobody likes you."

"Yeah alright mate shut up. I'm going back to bed."

I got up again and went to the door. All of a sudden, the atmosphere became very sinister again, and I started hearing voices, telling me I was stupid and that my flatmate had poisoned the water I was drinking. I looked down at the glass of water in my hand, then back at my flatmate, who was grinning. I freaked out hard, put the glass of water on the counter, and pretty much ran back to my room. I heard footsteps following me, and my flatmate telling me I was retarded, so ran into my room, locked the door, and got into bed. I then heard all my flatmates outside my room talking about me in whispered voices.

I was freaking out so hard I didn't know what to do, but somehow finally got back to sleep again. I then woke up not long after, with my flatmates still talking about me, but I couldn't open my eyes. I was half sat-up in bed, and tried shouting out, but my mouth wouldn't open. I was doing everything I could to shout out, but couldn't. Eventually I just fell back to sleep.

When I woke up that morning, I was completely fucked in the head, so confused. I realised the last part of that dream was sleep paralysis, and the part of my dream in the kitchen was also just a horrible dream. But it was so vivid and felt so real. Obviously it wasn't real, but I was so unnerved that I stayed in my room all morning just chilling. Masturbated, went on Facebook, had a shower, watched some Game of Thrones etc.

I couldn't stop thinking about it though, and eventually realised that the dream was, as far as I know, pretty textbook paranoid schizophrenia. I called up my Mum (she's a doctor) to tell her all about my dream and that I thought maybe the withdrawal from the benzos might have made me a little bit crazy. She confirmed that I wasn't, and that if I had actually lost my mind enough to be hearing voices telling me my glass of water had been poisoned, then I wouldn't be calling her asking if I'd lost my mind. Feeling reassured by this, I left my room and went to the kitchen.

I made some coffee, microwaved some pizza, and went and sat down on the couch to watch TV. It was Jeremy Kyle (the UK's answer to Jeremy Springer), the guest was some alcoholic bellend who'd been sleeping with his cousin and was trying to deny that the seven fingered baby she'd just given birth to was his.

Just as I was getting comfortable, laughing at the guest, I realised I needed some water. So I got up and went over to the sink. I couldn't find a glass in the cupboard, so turned around to go and get the mug I'd had my coffee in.

And that's when I noticed the glass of water on the counter. And this time, I didn't wake up.

Like I said, this dream was 100%, hands-down, no word of a lie, true. Obviously I've written it in a way for it to be dramatic, but to me the dream was much creepier than the cheesy horror-story way in which I've written it.

TL;DR A dream that involved a false awakening, sleep paralysis, and something that will confuse and haunt me for the rest of my life.
