OH MY GOD. There was this boy, kinda shy and quiet, a little awkward, who often just sat in silence and tried to not get attention drawn to himself. Our teacher was nice, but the kind of teacher that would go roaring up and down the aisles, all bark but no bite, but he terrified this kid. One day during an exam, this kid’s phone went off, like a flurry of text messages or something & and teacher started yelling ‘WHOSE PHONE IS THAT I SWEAR ITLL BE THE LAST CALL IT GETS’ and this kid gets so frightened that he jumps up out of his seat and starts making the beeping noise that was his ringtone, I think to like, idk, lead the teacher off the track towards the phone or something? Idk what the logic was. The teacher was so bewildered that he stood there open mouthed, gaping at the kid and then the kid kind of slowly stopped his beeping and turned super red as he realized what he was doing and the entire class is just losing it at this point. He tried to sit back down but the teacher wouldn’t let him and demanded to know what the hell he was doing and he just did a sly ‘I don’t know....’ but with a small smile and the teacher glared at him for a second and said if he ever heard another peep out of that kid for the rest of the period, he would actually shove the kids phone up the kids ass and had him sit back down.

But the kid forgot we were taking a test or something so he leaned over to open his bag, presumably to silence his phone or something and the teacher yelled ‘WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING BOY?’ And he flinched and went back to his test but you could FEEL how tense and nervous he was that his phone would go off again.

I did see him later that day at lunch where someone was telling this story to their friends and a bunch of dudes were dying laughing and slapping his back like LOOOOL duuude. And he was a little red but looked pretty pleased with himself and I think he made some friends out of that and he seemed less shy going forward, I was in like 2 of his classes every year for the next two years. After that, occasionally in this class, someone would make a BEEP and the teacher would swing around like a bull to see who made that sound, but he was generally really good natured and laughed it off like ‘if I ever find your phones, you’ll be eating them for lunch, I swear’ and then back to class. It was a pretty fun inside joke that went along for awhile with this teacher and his classes for the remainder of the year.
