What went wrong against Everton?

They double teamed Saka and Martinelli every time! We needed the full backs to overlap more and Ode and Xhaka to support better. Would have loved to see Tierney get some minutes and move Zinnny to midfield for even 10 mins to overload the left side but then switch the play to right side with Saka / Nketiah / Tomi being ready for the switch.

We should have move the football up the pitch faster during transitions instead we moved it slowly and they got time to set their defence.

We missed a player like Jesus who can single-handedly dribble past multiple defenders and there by being able to draw fouls closer to their goal (or even draw a penalty).

Their fans were absolutely behind their team all game long. They did have a new manager bounce too … if Frank Lampard was their manager, I don’t believe they would have played the same way but more importantly the players wouldn’t try to impress the new manager by showing the new manager that they as players are onboard with executing the managers tactics. If you execute the new manager’s tactics then that means more game time for you … players want to play games, so there is definitely an element of new manager bounce (but it’s not the only reason).
