What were you wearing when you wrecked?

Full face helmet, light weight textile jacket with armor, jeans, combat boots, cheap mechanics gloves. Lowsided at around 25mph (~42kph) and skidded roughly 10 feet (3m).

Tore my jeans up, skinned my knee, bloodied my shins, burnt a bit where the pipe hit. Jacket held up, helmet never touched the ground, glove palm tore up a little but held (bruised palm heel though). Got to pick bits of gravel out of my knee, bandaged myself up and changed pants on the side of the road so my family wouldn't worry.

Takeaway advice: wear kevlar lined riding jeans or wear real riding pants. Get nice gloves, but if you can't, some glove is better than none. Same with the boots. Having a small first aid kit was a pretty good idea since it was a long trip (and I was 5 miles from the finish, naturally).
