What will be the #1 best paying job of 2050?

I don't think there will be a huge difference. I know lots of people on technology and so on say that we will have Google cars and whatnot in less than 10 years but it doesn't seem too feasible. The number of conditions they don't work in yet, the laws they have to go through and so on. Same with a lot of other technologies.

Physicians may be replaced to some extent but I still don't think robots will take over the complete role, more like an assisting role. Same goes in that field, especially in that field, the amount of testing required is ludicrous. It takes years upon years of research and clinical trials to get a drug accepted, same would probably be required for eventual robots that would replace the physician. Just in this case, on top of all those years, you have to develop the actual solution. There isn't something really promising yet and probably won't be for a long time.

We're also seeing lots and lots of people applying to become engineers, hundreds of new schools opening every year around the world to educate more and more engineers. At one point it is going to be harder to get a job in that field. Where I live almost everyone wants to become an engineer and you can already notice it. Harder to get a job, especially in the more computer-ish companies. This is from a point where companies were literally fighting over yet-to-be engineers with one to two years left in school roughly 5-8 years ago. Meanwhile, we need an extreme amount of physicians in the next couple of years as has been the case for the past 30 years.

I don't know where I'm going with this, my say in this topic is that do whatever you want to do now (that is somewhat achievable, not something like I want to be the next Picasso) and should things change you can always reeducate yourself down the line.
