Probably get buried, but this happened to me years ago and I wish I could go back and tell the guy thanks.

I was selling stuff on eBay to pay for college textbooks. Anyway, I put up a lot of old game stuff and someone messaged me asking to buy it, but to relist it or something a long those lines for some reason or another. I had been scammed once before, so I laid into him . . .I got real defensive for absolutely no reason. Somewhere in my rant I said something a long the lines of "I'm getting sick of you fucking scammers trying to take money away from me. I'm just trying to buy some fucking textbooks, fuck off" It was completely uncalled for and looking back on it he was asking a legitimate question, I was just too blind to see it.

He sent me back a message asking what classes I was taking and how far I had gotten in college. I answered as I just thought he was just trying to call me out or something.

Immediately after I sent the message I got an email about a paypal transfer for like 3 times the amount of the item I was selling. It was something like $150 and he didn't even buy the item, he just sent me money to my paypal with a message saying "We'll get you those books!"

This was ~10 years ago in 2007 I believe and I've never forgotten it. When it happened I just thought it was a scam and didn't end up spending the money for at least a month afterwards since if he would have put in an issue with paypal then they would have deducted it from my bank account and I would have definitely over drafted.

I ended up dropping out of college and joining the military, but that act of kindness was never lost on me. I ended up going back to school and finally, 10 years after graduating high school, I'm on schedule to graduate this December.
