What wire do I use for Home Charging!?

The car ships with a 6-15 standard slow charger and a 14-50 plug for the charger...The 15 amp is far too slow. but will limp you home in a pinch. the 14-50 plug is quick but useless if you don't have one installed already.

**NOTE** This is NOT a smart thing to do, but it's what I do because tesla lost my 6-20 adapter in the mail and I couldn't wait longer.

I have a previous 6-20 (240v) plug in my garage (for bitcoin) so I made my own extension cord that adapts the 6-20 socket into a 14-50 dryer socket. Since it's rated for 20 amps I used 12 gauge wire. Of note, the 6-20 has hot-hot-ground wiring, no neutral. The 6-50 has hot-neutral-hot-ground. Because of this, the neutral wire is not used. The mobile charging adapter doesn't mind. IT IS IMPERATIVE USING THIS SETUP THAT THE CAR IS CONFIGURED TO ONLY CHARGE AT MAX 16 AMPS or it will blow the breaker or worse, burn your house down. I do not recommend doing it this way - it's my stopgap until the adapter arrives in the mail. As others say, if you don't understand what I wrote above then this is a great opportunity to burn your house down.
