What is a woman? What is a man?

No, I would in all cases side with the self. One of the core issues that many people seem to have with us comes out of this belief that gender and sex must always be something external to which an individual is subject. Like, “you were born with [set of physical features/certain chromosomes/etc.], and that means that you’re [gender] and you must accept that.” But things don’t work that way because gender identity actually comes from within. It’s not just “a feeling;” it’s a core part of who and what a person is. That’s why gender transition exists. That’s why it’s considered to be medically necessary. Because behavioral science backs up the intrinsic model of gender and refutes the externally-imposed model.
