What was the worst decision you ever made?

I'm still not sure if it's the worst or best decision.

My live in girlfriend and I got into a big fight over her son who was six at the time. He was a being a spoiled brat from his mom and grandmas constantly coddling him and never saying "no" to him. He needed some serious guidance and I wasn't about to back down. Anyway, the fight got ugly and we both decided she should go find her own place. I get a call from her at work the next week and she told me that she was pregnant. I decided to marry her so that my daughter would live with both a mom and a dad.

It turns out her son had mental health issues and serious behavioral problems. The next 15 years were hell. We are separated now and my daughter lives with me.

On one hand, I feel getting married was the worse decision ever but on the other hand, if I never had got married and established myself as the more capable parent then my daughter would be living in a dump with her mother with her brother stealing from her and terrorizing her.
