What is the worst experience you ever had being led on by someone you liked?

(this was in high school) I met a girl while doing a play for my parish, and we hit it off pretty well. There were a lot of red flags that i ignored, mostly because this was the first time a girl ever showed interest in me. it lasted 7 months, and she said things along the line of "i want to be a nun in the future, so it just wouldn't work" yet then also said "i think i might want to be with you one day". She also wanted to cuddle, hold hands, and we texted all the time. I made it clear i wanted to be with her, and asked her on dates really often, but they were only ever hangouts when she met up with me. Finally, i tried one last hurrah, for her birthday i took her (in a limo) to NYC, we saw American Idiot on Broadway, and then I took her to the top of the empire state building. I tried to kiss her at the top, and she refused. After that i lost hope, especially since she was being even worse saying "i love you" etc over text. after eight long months, i finally just dropped all communications with her.
My current girlfriend looked up this girl when i told her the story, turns out the girl didn't want to be a nun, but rather does not identify as either a boy or a girl.
