The first day of 5th grade, I tried to establish myself as being funny.

I can't remember the exact details of the line I was responding to, but I remember I quoted a Burger King commercial and interrupted the teacher by saying "Or, I can have a cheese burger the way I like it, with no pickles!"

If that sounds unfunny now, I can assure you it was way less funny at the time. The students and the teacher just stared at me in silence for a moment before the teach yelled at me for being an idiot.

After dealing with the fall out and hanging my head in shame I remember wondering how I had even come to blurt out something like that. I couldn't remember the thought process that even lead to me do it.

I still think about it sometimes and I'm 33 now.
