What was the worst meal your mother always cooked for you?

Not me, but this happened to my friend.

My friend's mom is a great cook but one day she went to the doctor and realized she had high cholesterol and so she decided to eat healthier; having a husband as well as a few kids, this meant that the entire family had to eat healthy as well.

One day, my friend was watching TV and my house and we saw a commercial that depicted a kid eating a grilled cheese sandwich and it looked really good, so my friend called home and asked if his mom could make him a grilled cheese sandwich once he got back home. Being a loving mother, she, of course, obliged. The next day, when I got to school, I asked my friend how the grilled cheese tasted (this was back in elementary school -- there was not much going on in our lives and so it was definitely normal to follow up with my friend to ask about the tastiness of a grilled cheese sandwich) and he looked at me with a face of disgust and told me that he took one bite and threw it away. I asked why it was so bad and he told me that she had replaced all the ingredients with healthy versions: she used some kind of whole-rye-wheat bread, and instead of using butter she touched the bread with some extra virgin olive oil, instead of american cheese she used some fat-free/gluten free cheese substitute, and instead of frying it on a grill pan, she put the sandwich in the toaster oven. My friend took one bite, apparently told his mom that he asked for a "grilled cheese sandwich, not a shit sandwich" (haha) and then threw it away.

Yes, my friend's reaction was a bit dick-ish, but we were probably 9 at the time. And to be honest, the mom knew exactly what she was doing so she laughed about it and ate the rest of the sandwich. Obviously there are more disgusting things to eat in life, but there's not much sadder in life than when you expect to eat one thing and you get a healthy replacement.
