What was the worst physical pain you've ever felt in your life?

Getting mine inserted was terrible, my obgyn kept telling me she “couldn’t find my cervix” and had to try 2 or 3 times. It felt like being stabbed from the inside and literally saw stars.

Getting it removed was an ordeal. I went to a different obgyn who I will always go to now. The IUD was placed poorly and the strings were cut way too short. She couldn’t find the strings to pull it out. She even left the room to get longer tongs so she could try to find it. At this point she has been poking around at my cervix for 15 minutes. She wound up having to do an ultrasound to locate it. Part of it had gotten lodged in my uterus.

At this point she told me we would probably need schedule for sedation to get it removed, BUT she felt like now that she knew where it was she might get it out. I asked her to try because I really didn’t want to go through sedation. Fortunately it worked, it was very uncomfortable. The cramping getting it removed was pretty bad.

All that being said. Getting it inserted was about 10x more painful and I have no interest in getting an IUD again.

Ironically my obgyn told me safe was dreading getting her IUD removed because she was pretty sure hers wasn’t placed right either.
