I used to work at a restaurant. It was a pretty nice place and had its share of regulars. One group would come in every Friday night with their entire family, usually about a dozen people. They never tipped and were super high maintenance. No matter what you did, you were gonna mess up their overly complicated order. The servers would generally avoid this group, so we just took turns every week of who would end up with them. One night, a newer manager put a newer server on them. As usual, the order was bombed. The only difference was that it was an exceptionally big order (they’d do like a family style thing with the whole right side of the menu). They sent every crumb back. The manager called the GM to figure out what to do. He didn’t want to lose their fine patronage so he comped it all and remade the order. The manager asked them if they wanted the botched order boxed to take home. They said no. The kitchen was stuck with probably 30 plates of really good food. The GM said to throw every bit of it in the trash. His logic - “if I let you guys have it, you’ll purposefully tank orders to get a free meal”.
