Relgion tells you nothing about people. Muslim scumbags will be different than Christian scumbags will be different than Atheist scumbags, but in the end, they're all scumbags. The same goes for good people. Just because you believe or not believe in something doesn't make you a good person. Your actions do.

That being said, a problem with all Abrahamic religions is that they have clear violations of human rights and democracy in their books, something which western civilisations consider their most important law. So strong believers in those religions need to find a way around that. In my experience, those people usually don't even realise the contradiction. For instance, the bible clearly states that you should physically abuse your child (Proverbs 13:24). So, if you take the bible literally, you can't be a good Christian without going to jail.
