Well, adult industry can mean a lot of things - professional porn, amateur porn, camgirls, sex toys, fetish websites, etc. So I'm going to focus on sex toys.

Sex toys have about zero regulation, and a lot of them that are for sale are actually really toxic and bad for you. A ton of them contain phalates and toxic solvents. They can break down and smell like old tires, and are just really nasty. That cheap jelly stuff a lot of toys are made of is bad for you and can't really be sanitized. A lot of sex toys are porous, meaning that bacteria, fungus, mildew, and all kinds of gross things can enter the toy, which you then go ahead and stick inside of yourself. They also just start breaking down over time. You can find imagines of some sex toys like this cut up and put in a glass jar and just left there, and over time they've just started to liquefy all on their own, no added heat, just chilling out in a jar.

Also, since there's no regulation, sex toy companies can say whatever they want about what's in their toys and nobody's checking. Silicone is one very safe material for toys to be made of - it's body safe, nonporous, and can be boiled to sanitize it. Toy companies have gotten wind that some people are wising up and becoming aware, so they've started saying that their toys are made from silicone. The problem is, no one is checking this. One 'silicone' dildo was cut open to reveal that it was actually foam inside. Flame tests on 'silicone' toys often prove they aren't really silicone at all.

So what I would change is better regulation of sex toys and more education, so that people actually know what they are putting inside themselves and that sex toys actually become safe for use across the board.
