I think it would have a huge backlash especially on single people. Japan is already having a problem with not having enough children being born because there's alot of people attracted to fictional characters. Also think it how bad a withdrawal would be for it. Eventually we might get people that are to depended on it, and that might affect our birth rates. Also it would be alot harder to reform criminals because they would be comfortable being alone as opposed to missing family and friends. I think the only good application for it would be for the elderly and people who are disabled. The world would be a scary place if everyone was okay with being alone.
