What y'all mad about tonight?

I'm trying to utilize an avatar in VRchat using unity, but I cannot use it because it has too many polygons. So I try to open the asset in blender to edit it a little ad remove some unnecessary parts, as the file is compatible, but for some reason, blender refuses to acknowledge its existence. So I'm trying to use a mesh reducer I unity to lower the polygon count, but that is making the avatar look ugly.

Not only that, but I'm getting an error saying that the chest is rigged, and it won't run like that, so I have to weld or delete it, but the original maker of this asset didn't actually ADD an actual chest bone, so I have no idea wtf is going on.

Worst part is I don't even know any of this crap and have been winging it, so I'm very confused.
