What your best story of someone's showboating going wrong?

Wasn’t exactly showboating but a friend was bragging about having never been knocked out. We were having some beers one night and he wanted to impress some girls we were hanging out with. So he told a bunch of fight stories and went on to brag about how he had never been knocked out.

He was also a skater and a pretty good one at that. After a while the girls were going to leave. He wanted to show off so he grabbed the spoiler on the trunk and told them to punch it. They did.

He must have got up to 30 mph and the skateboard was wobbling something fierce. Side to side it went. Farther and farther from side to side it went until it finally shot out from under him. For a split second that seemed like eternity he was suspended in air holding the car and looking at his feet. His feet flew back in the direction the skateboard had been before it sailed to another dimension. He slammed face first into the asphalt and bounced and bounced and slid.

We were sure we just watched our asshole best friend die right before our eyes. I laughed harder than I had laughed in years as I started running to him. It happened so fast that my initial reaction was laughter followed by an instinct to help the dead idiot if I could.

He was maybe 50 feet from us and by the time we got to him he was conscious. Blood was coming from a small cut above his eye and he had a bit of scraping but other than that he looked fine. Then I looked in his eyes and saw a glazed aloof look. He was babbling and asking what happened. We explained and after about 20 seconds he would start all over again. Babbling on and asking what happened and why he was bleeding.

We took him to the hospital which was about 3 blocks away. He had received a concussion. The incompetent doctors and medicinal staff sent him home after checking him out for about 25 minutes. No observation, no X-ray, no nothing. They didn’t even tell us to keep him awake or call his parents.

Anyway it’s one of my funniest memories with that dude.
