What is your family's most fucked up story?

Little brother was going to Iraq and had 11 days to marry his fiance. He's technically called a half-brother since his mother was the step-mother to us older siblings. His mother was... mean just to be mean to us kids and had two faces depending on if we were in private or public. Eventually our father divorced her under the pressure of our entire family.

Fast forward ten years and I get out of the military and I want to build a better bond with my little brother and sister and I have a sit down meal with them and their mother. We mended the bridges, looked beyond the hate and hurt of the past and I enjoyed a greater friendship with my two siblings. The rest of my family, however, as devout in their faiths that they were refused to forgive and forget our step-mother's child rearing. This became apparent when my brother and sister graduated school and my older sister had a separate graduating party so no one on my dad's side would have to go to our former step-mother's house.

Little brother graduates high school, joins the Army and gets engaged. When the women on my father's side learned that the bridal shower was going to be at our step-mother's house my older sister decided she would have a separate one at her house. This is when I stepped in to change their minds.

I fought with them for two to three hours but I'll sum it up like this:

You're not going to be there! I've eaten in her house and he's going to Iraq.

I shamed them for three hours straight telling them that they only had to spend 1 hour in her house while my brother was going to be spending 1 year in Iraq. I shamed them from despoiling a happy moment in my brother's life. I beat it into their heads over and over again that after that dinner they would go home but if they continued to refuse to go into that house and my little brother died in Iraq I would disown all of them.

My little brother is out of the Army and has two wonderful children.
