What is your "it was fate" yet "the one that got away" story?

Simple story: (Math geniuses, calculate the odds. I will be forever greatful)

Wall of text, you decide if its worth the read.

It was a friends birthday so left a little early from office. Got a lot of traffic and ended up calling and asking if they are coming to this other place for drinks. They said yes and better to meet there directly.

Reached that bar, my friends host a get-together there for people new to the city. They didn't reach on time and I was stuck there alone. 15-20 minutes later in walked a girl(1_girl) and a guy asking about the get-together. Introduced myself to them and started talking/drinking with them. A few other people turned up, all were having a great time.

My friends show up and we all drink and dance the night away. Spoke a lot with (1_girl), who was from another country and just got to our city the day before. Got her number.

Next day:

A friend decided to throw a house-party at the last minute. Called everyone. Asked 1_girl if she wants to come and join us. She asked if she can bring 3 people. "Sure, get them along." Out of the 3, 2 were very close friends.

Ended up that only 1_girl and a friend(lets call her N)(one of the two very close friends) came along. Reasons ranged from tired to whatever.

I pick them up and off we go towards the friends place. Spoke a lot to N. She was from a different country as well.

End the night with an off-hand remark by a friend that we all are planning to go for a trip and if they want to join, let us know. They said yes.

N was supposed to leave next morning to travel around. 1_girl was also travelling the next day in a separate direction.

Not much contact, a few messages from there till the trip we had all planned. The day comes for the trip and I leave a day early with 1_girl, N and her friend(P) were supposed to meet us there.

They had a horrible time getting there, lots of change of transport and trains later they managed to reach within 5 minutes of us. Great time talking to all of them, and then the night comes. Start talking to N and realise she says/has an outlook on life exactly like mine. Crazy sparks flying, I ask it and she says the exact thing that I would say to that question. Awesome weather. Get a little lost at this point wondering whats happening.

P gets sick, 1_girl is still stuck to us and not sleeping off. N and I can't stop talking.

We end the night at some point.

The rest of the two days the same thing keeps happening except we are a lot of people by now.

She mentioned she had a boyfriend(serious relationship), nothing happened between us and I dont think anything will.

Can't help but wonder:

What are the chances of us meeting:

2 people on two different sides of the world,

Met through someone(1_girl) who I had met 1 day ago. Who N met when I dropped her back on the first day to her hotel.

Met N because of a last minute house-party when she was leaving the next morning. N's friend decided not to go but somehow she came along with 1_girl.

An off-hand remark about a trip made us all go for a trip.

A lot of delays(they changed transport 4 times, travelled 18-20 hours, could have ended up with them reaching a day later(which would have meant a lot of people and possibly very less interaction between us), P being sick(could have had to cancel rest of the trip and go to a doctor).

The amazing weather, that amazing conversation which made me want to stay up as long as I could. Eyes that captivated my dreams and hopes.

But above all the words and her mind which made me want to sit and talk to her till my hair went white. That smile would be a good last sight before the end.

Alas all this is pointless, she is in a serious relationship and I possibly won't ever see her again.

I wonder whether she will ever think of me.
