What is your most prized baseball possession in terms of sentimental value and how did you come by it?

I have a few good autographs that I got myself and will forever be engrained in my memory. I got Jake peavy and Heath bell on a ball right after john lannan let a warmup ball sail into the stands and into my glove on a birthday, I got frank Howard a senators legend, nick Johnson during the first nationals season, and pat venditte the ambidextrous pitcher to sign with both hands. Most prized though has to be my least glamorous autograph. I was a huge baseball fan and my parents never watched any sports when I was growing up. The Nationals moved to DC when I was in middle school and I used any excuse I could to get my parents to take me to games. I think I went to around 15 in 2005 which I haven't come close to since, partly because people actually want to go now. At the end of the season they were handing out schedules for the next season with the entire 2005 rosters picture. It was like a piece of history for my new favorite team, but I decided to get it signed by screech the Nationals mascot. This was before he slimmed down and when the Nationals played in run down RFK. My younger brother, who never enjoyed baseball as much as I did, ran up to screech trying to imitate me after I got my autograph but got brushed off. My dad didn't take that and loudly told my brother he would have signed it except he was a BIG FAT TURKEY. Screech ended up coming back around after hearing the criticism and made my brothers team photo look identical to mine. Since then my father has developed a terminal illness and my brother never really got into baseball but both the team photos with screechs signature are hanging in our rooms. A signature from some poor guy in a mascot outfit for a new team immortalized a situation that epitomized my family and will always remind me of an amazing inaugural season.
