What is your opinion on the defense budget?

Reserve military officer here. Can't call myself a true service member since I go one one or two exercises every quarter and am a civilian 99% of the time. Still.

Defense budget can definitley be trimmed down and if spent in a judicious manner, will actually yield a better military.

  1. More money allocated to the VA & taking care of those who served

  2. The Pentagon needs significantly more oversight from civilian authorities. In just a decade, over $40 billion was wasted on weapons programs that went no where. Off the top of my head I can think of the Comanche helicopter, among other things. The F-35 is another one

Spend the money better and the military will be better equipped, leadership will be held more accountable instead of giving juicy contracts to friends over at Lockheed or General Dynamics + those who served and struggle to readjust to society will be better supported. AND we'll have money left over to use on something else!
