What is your "This person has no idea how the real world works" moment?

My ex. We’d purchased a used car, that had just had a brand new engine dropped in. Guy we bought it from was a mechanic and bought and rebuilt vehicles to sell in his spare time. We’d had it inspected by a third party place just to be sure before making the buy.

So we had this car for maybe 11 months and my ex assured me he was taking care of it. So one day we go to leave for work (car pool, our workplaces were 2 blocks apart) and it doesn’t start, it’s trying to turn over but no go. I check the normal things to get an idea of what the issue is. There’s power, so the battery isn’t dead. It had gas in it, it tried to start to it wasn’t the starter. So then I check the fluids. No oil. Bone fucking dry. I asked him when he got the oil changed last or when he topped it up last. “Well the dealership never called me to tell me it was time for a change yet” WTF. His parents had only ever bought new, so all their vehicles came with the oil change packages were the dealership would call you up and book you in without you ever really having to think about it. He honestly thought a dealership out of the fucking blue that had no idea that we owned this 14 year old USED car would call him and tell him to bring the car in for an oil change.
